Self Portrait

Focusing on Life. Through photos. Focusing and getting a proof to remind us on what we learned or what new aspects we unveiled about our lives sounded quite interesting to me.
So, this is one added assignment I gave to myself, a brilliant idea that Sally of The Studio Sublime put forth! The fun is still on.

Well well..

A lot of creating, a lot of hardwork.

Yes, yes, I am going to do my first ever jewelry sale cum show. Cant wait! Most of the items are ready. Sorting and  categorising done. Now it is the more creative part, apart from creating the pieces itself - The Display! So many themes coming to mind. Well, with me, it takes a few days of sleep on all the ideas till I can zero in on one, or use a combined encapsulated form of few of the ideas. This is what happens to me when I am given choices.

All confusion in the world happens because humans have a mighty lot of choices, I guess..! If each day the sun comes up from each direction, we would have been so fussy about the sun's choice on a particular day.. If some trees grew upside down, few would have complained about the roots and few would have complained about the leaves. See how confused I am. Ok, I will behave well from after half an hour. (Quip!)

Till next time, Keep it beautiful!

Hi friends..

Summer is the perfect time for shopping lovely beads, and of course making some great jewelry because its the time where you find yourself and your friends meeting up a lot, and having fun outside.. Its great to see your close ones wear jewelry that you created and attending parties.. And a greater joy when you get lovely compliments from many people. You feel the creative fire inside you getting ignited just to make more and more wonderful, and 'meaningful' jewelry and accessories. Like this little fridge magnet that I created for a couple who invited us over for dinner. I had a good time brainstorming what exactly to gift them, then finally I made a heart-shaped fridge magnet out of clay - half red(symbolising the female), half black(symbolising the male) and the two halves intertwined with green cord(symbolising the vital and eternal relation between the couple)!! I dont have a picture of that because it is now their property, and to have it pictured or not had to be left for their decision. It was a really fulfilling moment for me to watch them curiously open the little gift box, and the ' wow' feeling on both their faces. Isnt that the purpose of being a designer ? Well, I just love being one ;)

Always beautiful!!

Reminiscing

                                                     Reminiscing

My first experiments with jewelry making(designing) was when I used to literally 'pluck' and 'push' colored stones between different pairs of earrings..

I remember when once my aunt showed interest in wearing my 18k gold ring while I was in school, and she accidentally dipped it in some leavening agent while cooking and spots appeared on the ring, I was desperately trying to wind some silk fabric onto the ring so that I could save atleast the beautiful stone setting!!

Also, when danglers came off its holding studs, I was trying to stitch them onto corners of pillows..

When my mother kneaded dough out of whole wheat to make chapatis(Indian Bread), I used to discreetly roll off small dollops from it - later to model tiny cute thingies from it. I never knew how to bring them to a hard state, I had tried my hand putting them out in the sun to dry them - only to see later that either its shrunken beyond recognition, or eaten by ants or vanished completely(some bird took it maybe). I had then tried frying it without my mother seeing it, complete with oil - like she made chapatis- but then it was soft after it cooled down!!

After so many years again, was my first encounter with art clay - when I was in Bangalore,India, while I was working as an Interior Designer. By then I was already creating photoframes, abstract drawings, table-top curios, recycled cardboard jewelry cases and coin cases, decorative door handles, wall-art, glass paintings, name-boards and so on.. And of -course many pieces of jewelry too.. Also, many beautiful knitted scarves.

During many of my interior design projects I have felt that some of my things would fit perfectly in those homes, but the 'employee' status did not give me the freedom to bring out those! But from many friends and relatives, I have heard the 'God, how do you manage to make these?' questions so many times. But I always feel- creativity is there in everyones's heart. Atleast a bit of it. Its just that few of us are able to recognise it, and majority are ignorant of their underlying talents.. Those gifts by God - so naturally woven into our system to help us defeat all worries, anxieties.. Yes, creativity makes life colorful. Even the world colorful.
Dont worry if you dont have the circumstance to 'create' something beautiful - just by viewing beautiful things- just by admiring them and allowing your heart to become tender with happy thoughts - is half the job done!! ^-^

So, as always, and forever - Keep it beautiful!
